Committees
Activities
Ministry and Counsel
A committee of all the members of the Ministry and Counsel committees of the meetings that make up Salem Quarter. It meets 4 or 5 weeks before the spring and fall Quarter Meetings. For a description of what Salem Quarterly Meeting M & C does, see QM Ministry and Counsel responsibilities.
Quarterly Meeting Funds Committee
evaluates funding proposals and recommends those that qualify to the Quarter for action. For information on the funds and how to apply, see QM Funds Description.
Nominating Committee
meets during the winter and brings names to the April meeting of the Quarter for officers, at large members of Ministry and Counsel, members of the Quarter Funds committee, members of the Quaker Studies Program Committee, representatives to the board of managers of Beacon Hill Friends House and representatives to the Massachusetts Council of Churches.
Quaker Studies Program
The Quaker Studies program presents evening classes and weekend programs on topics of interest to Quakers at various locations around Salem Quarter each year. There is a description of current Program on the Quaker Studies web page. This is a joint venture of Salem Quarter and Beacon Hill Friends House.
Summer Picnic
The summer picnic varies as we move from meeting to meeting, but it's always fun. In recent years we have held ice cream socials as fund raisers, in 2004 for James and Eden Grace for their work in Kenya, and in 2005 to fund attendance at the World Gathering of Young Friends.
January Quarter Day
The quarter presents the January Quarter Day Program, an afternoon workshop or program on a topic of immediate interest to local Friends.
Youth Activities
Salem QM does not have its own youth programs but highly recommends those administered by New England Yearly Meeting.
